BROOKLANDS 1 - 2  BEESTON

Beeston moved into 5th spot in the National Premier League with an away win against Brooklands, in Manchester, on Saturday.
Beeston took an early 5th minute lead when the Bees flew down the length of the pitch in a move linking Zak Jones, David Griffiths and Carl Smith before Jamie Parker beat Lee Ible in the Manchester goal.

Martin Jones failed to increase the lead from the penalty spot in the 13th minute and Ben Arnold might have scored from open play three minutes later.  Beeston should have had the game rapped up but Brooklands, David Seddon, thought differently and his deflected flick in the 27th minute gave Brooklands the equaliser.

This energised the Bees and two minutes later they regained the lead from their second penalty corner which Adam Dixon fired home.

The remainder of the match was a dour affair with Beeston defending their lead well.  Chances fell to Chris Seddon in the 38th minute and life became more difficult after Alastair Wilson was shown the yellow card in the 49th minute. Aiden Khares had a rare chance to equalise with ten minutes to play but Beeston closed the door on the busy Brooklands forwards and crafted out a fine away win.

England and Great Britain defender, Alastair Wilson, speaking after the win, mused "We are now out of first gear and into second.  We toughed out three points today and things are beginning to come together.  There is a good spirit in the camp and with Andrew Monte arriving next week the squad will be complete.  We now have two weeks before the Surbiton game to sort out our set pieces in training"
