CANNOCK 3 - 4 BEESTON
Image - Twins Ben and Sam Arnold proved too confusing for Cannock!
Beeston took three points at Cannock on Sunday to move into fourth position in the Premiership and are now on equal points with East Grinstead in third place.
Cannock rattled the Bees in the first half. Gareth Andrew had the chance to put Cannock into an 11th minute lead from the penalty spot but his effort hit the post. Six minutes later he made amends when he finished off a flowing counter attack.
Two minutes later, Beeston equalised from an Andrew Monte penalty corner flick. The last ten minutes of the first half saw the Bees compounding their problems. Chris Seddon failed with a 26th minute penalty flick, then Jon Proud picked up a yellow card , then Seddon added to his woes when he too was yellow carded for shooting after he had been awarded a penalty corner and his actions saw the 34th minute penalty corner cancelled out.
Beeston obviously used the ten minute half-time break to rectify some of their issues and returned to the contest in a more positive frame of mind.
The Bees equalised in the 41st minute when Sam Ward finished off a skilful Martin Jones attacking run. Jon Proud made up for his earlier dismissal when he found Wayne Rowland in the 55th minute and the Australian put Beeston into the lead.
Beeston were now well on top and seemed to be attacking at will. The Arnold twins had Cannock seeing double as the crucial goal came in the 69th minute. Sam Arnold found Sam Ward on the right wing and his cross found Ben Arnold who finished in style to give Beeston a massive win at Chase Park.
Beeston climbed above their Midlands rivals with a comprehensive victory at Fortress Cannock. Cannock pulled one back in the dying seconds through Richard Lane but by now it was all too late, the portcullis was down and the Bees had stormed the castle.
Captain Stephen Lawrence said," This is a massive win as we approach the Christmas break. We are now undefeated in our last ten league and cup games and still had four key players missing today. The young players are doing well and are making quite an impact. Now we turn attention to the National League Indoor Premiership. The squad go indoor on Tuesday and we now have a few weeks to fine tune before we move camp to Eastleigh."
